48HR FILM FESTIVAL BDS STUDENTS

An incredible filmmaking adventure, the 48HR Film Festival in Denver continues to prove itself as being one of the biggest filmmaking events in Colorado. 900 filmmakers competed August 3rd through the 5th to make an entire film in 48 hours from script to finish. The end result was 57 incredible, professional, highly crafted and imaginative Colorado films. BDS Students were sure not to miss out on the fun and sleepless action!

Andy Hankins, a father dying to help!

[caption id="attachment_694" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Andy Hankins in Strawpatch A less than with it dad checking the engine. Andy Hankins in Urban Light's Strawpatch[/caption] Andy Hankins was hilarious yet again, in Urban Light Entertainment's film, "Strawpatch." A dark comedy, in the style of Weekend at Bernies, following a dying father and his two bickering children trying to take him to the hospital. Andy brilliantly played coach Russ Powers, the father trying to coach his daughter in hair dressing. Andy continues to showcase his comedic timing throughout the film as he struggles to stay alive. Using some great lifeless behavior and slapstick, this film is sure to make you laugh with each bump and bruise! A job well done Andy!

Natalie Waldrip, gives a powerful screen performance!

Natalie Waldrip continues to bring her powerful presence to the big screen as a wife cheating on her husband who returns suddenly from being deployed overseas. The stylistic film, A.W.O.L. by before all this, inc. was a twisting and troubling look into the brokenness and decay of a soldier going A.W.O.L. in life. Cut-aways and a beautiful sweeping, tracking shot reveal a poetic and sad look into the confusion and pain of both husband, wife and cheater. Natalie's eyes sell the intensity in close-up of a woman lost and afraid and just as A.W.O.L as her husband. Bravo Natalie.

Cougar Littlefield, quirky meets triumph!

[caption id="attachment_695" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Puck Neck Poster Puck Neck Poster[/caption] Cougar Littlefield joined last years film festival winning team, Cinema Geeks in the film, Puck Neck. The team took a direction into the obscure and odd world of beer league hockey where the Stanley Cup is replaced by a round of beers between strange friends. The film follows the odd-ball character Puck Neck, receiving his name - presumably from a puck to the neck injury, on him returning to hockey as a goalie. What follows is a comedic journey among the zany and humorous characters of his life."Would you like a pickle?"

Robb Taft, continues to bring characters alive!

[caption id="attachment_696" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Robb Taft in The Release Robb Taft in The Release, "It was a warning shot!"[/caption] Robb Taft, known for his dedication and passion for bringing his characters into real life, excels again as a hostage taker in Team Fenix's film, The Release. A dark comedy with incredible camera work and amazing CGI effects, follows the story of a hostage taker and his bumbling hostage, a man who has just got to pee. Haven't we all been there before!? Frantic-gone-postal, ex-employee, Robb's character soon finds himself in over his head dealing with the squirming hostage and SWAT advancing on the building. With a great clincher ending and dynamic production, The Release is sure to entertain. And make one want to rush to the restroom! Congrats Robb and stellar acting!
